1978 Corvette

Red exterior, Oyster vinyl interior.  350ci engine, automatic transmission, posi rear-end.  Assembled on July 31, 1978, This gorgeous and affordable late C3 has just had a full engine rebuild and runs like a top!  An older job, the paint on this car still shines very well, although it is cracked in several places.  Trim tag shows paint code 13.  Although they are intact, the tailights show hairline cracks, which are very common for this generation.  Chrome exterior door handles are in original condition and function well, although the passenger side is showing typical sinking issues.  Weatherstripping also appears original and is showing some dry-rotting, although it is intact.  Rally wheels are present and look to be mostly rust-free; 1 center cap is missing, but the remaining caps and trim rings are in fair driver condition.  A set of Goodyear Eagle GTII tires are mounted, and show roughly 70% remaining, with no apparent dry-rot.  The interior of this car is complete minus the radio, and looks to be very original.  Originally ordered with rare Oyster cloth seats, this 1978 now has vinyl seats in the same color, although it retains its cloth-trimmed door panels.  Both of these items are showing wear, but no major rips or tears.  Carpet looks to be original as well, as is the steering wheel; both are in need of replacement to make this a nicear.  Although it is mostly straight, the dash pad has a crack in the driver's corner.  Correct original GM seatbelts are still in place, and the gauges are in good original condition with minimal fading.  Clock is not working at this time.  The engine in this 1978 Corvette shows a casting number of 14010207, which corresponds to a 1980-85 Chevrolet 350ci engine, originally installed in a truck application.  The assembly date of this engine appears to be November 17, 1982.  The block and intake wear what looks to be a fresh coat of correct Chevrolet Blue engine paint.  A Quadrajet carburetor is present, which is stamped 17068206, and the GM intake shows stamp number 148249.  A correct style a/c compressor is also installed.  Frame appears to be solid and rust-free.  In conclusion, this 1978 Corvette has a TON of potential for a minimum investment, needing mostly interior and trim pieces.  Factory features include power windows, power antenna, power steering, power brakes, tilt-n-tele, air conditioning, cruise control, rear defrost, AM/FM radio, sport mirrors.

Does this Vette run and drive?  Yes!  This Vette runs well, stops, and turns with no major issues.  Some minor work may be necessary, but this car could probably be driven a short distance home.

Why is this car a Fixer-Upper?  This car does not show its original colors, and does not have its original engine.  Additionally, the paint is marginal, and is definitely driver status.  Interior is driver status as well; nearly every component shows light to moderate wear.  Many rare correct engine components are missing.  This is another great car for someone that just wants a running and driving red Corvette that is not concerned with originality or perfect cosmetics!
