1968 Corvette Convertible

Polo Green exterior, code correct Black vinyl interior, Black convertible top.  327ci engine, 4 speed manual transmission.  This is a great looking project that needs mostly exterior cosmetics to be ready for show!  This car was assembled on June 7, 1968, and shows paint code 972.  The paint on the car is an older lacquer job and is showing typical cracking in many areas, although it still shines very well and looks great from a few feet away.  Convertible top is in fair condition with a few small tears and a yellowing window.  Weatherstripping is older and slightly brittle; taillights are in excellent condition with no cracking.  All exterior chrome on this car looks to be original, and is showing some minor pitting and fading.  A set of newer raised white letter Firestone Firehawk tires shows about 80% treadlife remaining; these tires are mounted on Corvette rally wheels with good paint and good center caps and trim rings.  Interior in this car shows very well, and features a rare WORKING fiber optics system!  Correct loop carpet is installed, and is in good condition with no apparent fading or wear-through spots.  This 1968 Corvette Convertible has an excellent condition steering wheel, and particularly nice door panels.  Dash pad is straight with no cracks, and the gauges are in great shape also with clear lenses and no fading on the faces or needles.  Center console is average, and has a large crack on the top; seat covers are very nice overall, although the driver's side has a small tear in the seatback.  Factory GM seatbelts are still in place, as is the original AM/FM radio.  The engine in this car shows casting number 3858180, and an HA suffix on the stamp pad.  Engine compartment is very clean, a features an Edelbrock Streetmaster intake manifold and a set of older Hooker Supercomp headers with sidepipes, which have been painted black.  This car has an extremely rare CORRECT alternator!  A Holley carburetor is currently installed in this 1968 Corvette Convertible, and has a small diameter chrome air cleaner attached to it.  The frame on this car is very solid and rust-free.  Pick this one up while you can, this is one heck of a value for a 1968 Corvette Convertible!  Factory features include AM/FM radio, 4 speed manual transmission.

Does this Vette run and drive?  Yes!  This car starts up, and runs well other than having a high idle.  Brakes stop the car well and evenly, and there are no apparent major suspension or steering issues.

Why is this a Fixer-Upper?  This car has a non-original engine, is not its original color, and shows some wear on nearly every part of the car.  However, cosmetics are the main thing holding thisar back.  If we were to make this a part of our regular inventory, we would at the very least paint the car, install a new convertible top, replace the center console, and replace all chrome and possibly weatherstripping.
